The St Mary’s Church Restoration Committee is a secular group concerned with raising money to preserve the fabric of this historic building. Over the years, with the support of those within and outside of the village, we have raised money for many projects including the repair and replacement of some of the windows, repairs to the vestry roof and the ongoing project of retiling the floor.
Over the year we are planning a number of exciting events that will, not only help to raise funds for the continued maintenance and restoration of the fabric of the building, but also continue to promote the special community spirit that exists here. These events include; Guilden Gardens, an open gardens event taking place on June 14th 2009 where a number of villagers have kindly agreed to open their gardens up to the public for a day. Alongside that event will be a plant sale and a refreshment stall selling tea and cakes at the village hall. On the 20th June 2009 a choral concert has been arranged to take place at St Mary’s Church, Guilden Morden. During the summer we also propose to organise another ‘picnic in the park’ during the cricket season to offer much needed support to our local cricket team. Later on in the year, we will be holding the annual Christmas market and a Christmas Carol concert. Look out for the leaflets and notices around the village.
